This guide covers 10 late-night wedding snack ideas for Bali.

We chose them to give you a mix of Balinese or Indonesian food and familiar comfort food, vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, and both light and more filling options. Most can also be served in small or individual portions while guests continue with the party.

The list is not exhaustive. You can discuss other options with your caterer based on your guest preferences, dinner menu and venue.

Mini pizzas

Familiar International Late-Night Wedding Snacks

  1. Mini Sliders

Mini beef or chicken sliders are easy to eat while guests are standing or moving around. Add a vegetarian slider if you want another meat-free choice.

  1. Mini Pizzas

Offer a few pizza toppings and serve them as small pizzas or individual slices. Include vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Bring them out in small batches so guests get them fresh rather than leaving a large tray sitting out.

  1. Loaded Fries

Serve fries in individual cups with toppings, like cheese, sauces or spring onions. Guests can pick up a portion without stopping for a sit-down meal. Your caterer can prepare them in small batches so the fries are served fresh.

  1. Crispy Chicken Bites

Serve bite-sized pieces of fried chicken. They are easy to pick up and do not require cutlery. They also provide a more filling savoury choice without serving another full meal.

Sate Lilit with chili sauce on the side

Balinese & Indonesian Late-Night Wedding Snacks

  1. Sate Lilit

Sate lilit is made with minced meat or fish mixed with spices. The mixture is wrapped around a skewer and grilled. Guests can pick up a skewer without needing a plate or cutlery.

  1. Indomie Station

Indomie is an Indonesian instant noodle brand. Guests can add toppings, like egg, chicken or vegetables to their noodles. Keep vegetarian and non-vegetarian toppings separate.

  1. Nasi Jinggo

Nasi jinggo is served in a small portion, traditionally wrapped in a banana leaf. It usually combines rice with chicken, noodles, vegetables and sambal. Its compact serving style makes it useful when you want to offer guests something more filling without serving another full meal.

  1. Martabak Telur

Martabak telur is a savoury snack filled with egg, minced meat and seasonings. It is fried until crisp and then cut into smaller pieces. The portions are easy to pick up and are more substantial than a small canapé.

A plate of Pisang Goreng

Sweet Items as Late-Night Wedding Snacks

  1. Pisang Goreng

Pisang goreng is Indonesian fried banana, usually coated in batter and fried until crisp. Serve small portions while they are still warm. This dessert gives guests something sweet after the savoury snacks.

  1. Gelato Cart

A gelato cart gives guests a cold choice alongside the fried and heavier snacks. Keep the portions small and offer a few flavours. For a villa or outdoor wedding, check the cart’s refrigeration and power requirements with the venue or caterer beforehand.

Why Plan Late-Night Wedding Snacks in Advance?

A Bali wedding may move through several stages: ceremony, cocktails, dinner, speeches, dancing and then a late-night party. By the time the party is underway, several hours may have passed since dinner. Some guests may want a few bites, while others may want something more substantial.

If your wedding is at a private villa or secluded venue, guests may not be able to simply step outside and find something to eat.

Planning the food means:

  • You have something ready when guests want to eat.
  • You can choose the type and amount of food based on how your evening is structured.

How to Choose Late-Night Snacks for a Bali Wedding

  • Check with your caterer what they can cook, heat or keep cold at the venue. A resort may have an on-site kitchen. At a villa, your caterer may have to set up a temporary kitchen and bring the equipment they need. If you choose several made-to-order foods, check whether there is enough space, equipment and staff to prepare them at the same time.
  • Choose food that guests can eat without sitting down or using a knife and fork. Avoid repeating what you served for dinner.
  • Make sure there are enough choices for vegetarians rather than relying on one dish. Talk to your caterer about vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy needs, too.
  • Choose a small mix rather than several similar foods. You could combine a more filling savoury option with something sweet or refreshing. Ask your caterer to recommend quantities based on your dinner menu, guest count and how late the party will run. After a large dinner, a few small bites may be enough. If several hours pass between dinner and the end of the party, guests may want something more substantial.
